Reading the bargain
EDITORIAL DRAFT · SEPTEMBER 2026

Long-term power: who bears demand risk?

Read energy procurement through duration, delivery, pricing and termination.

Begin with the transaction

Establish whether the arrangement involves physical delivery, financial settlement or a combination of obligations and attributes. Before reading price terms, identify who sells to whom, what is delivered and where delivery occurs.

Follow the risk

Does supply begin when the campus becomes operational? If construction is delayed, when do payment and compensation obligations arise? How do minimum purchase or payment commitments operate when demand disappoints? Who bears changes in fuel, grid charges and environmental-attribute prices?

Read early termination, credit support and assignment together to understand the financing value of a long-term procurement commitment.

Document status

This research guide is not yet tied to a checked, executed contract. Each future record should retain the original, version date, signatories, clause locations and connected project.

This is a research framework or candidate file. Unverified project facts and contract terms are not presented as findings.
